Woodturned Bowls Gallery 3

This deeper small woodturned bowl is a particular favorite of mine as it presented numerous presented me with a number of problems. Having got part way through turning the inside of the bowl, I couldn't manage to use my chisels to complete it. With the bowl gouge I had in my starter set, I simply couldn't keep the bevel rubbing on the wood in a bowl of this design and depth. In fact, I had to enlist the help of my friend Chris Ashton to complete the inside. You can see some of Chris's work in another gallery including his prize winning 24 inch platter .

As you can see not all of my woodturning projects have been a success. Here I was trying to make the wood as thin as I could. I managed to get the light to shine through the wood around the side before really getting the light to shine through the bottom! This was a shame as I particularly like the attractive grain of this wood.
