Woodturned Bowls
I spent my first hours on the lathe spindle turning but soon started to make woodturned bowls.
In our first woodturning gallery I decided to show you a few examples of my early attempts at woodturned bowls. The reason many of them are smaller is because I had 2 free bags of bowl blanks thrown in when I bought my lathe at Craft Supplies in Millers Dale Derbyshire UK.
These mixed bags of bowl blanks are great for beginner woodturners to get some practice although you may not know which wood you are turning. I still have some of those blanks left which will quickly become woodturned bowls just as soon as I get some free time.

The woodturned bowl above is a piece of Ash (Fraxinus Excelsoir) measuring about 9 inches diameter. This medium to large tree can grow to 30 metres with a diameter up to 1.5 metres. In the above pictures you can see the wavy grain which I think adds interest.
