Woodturning Gallery

Walnut trees are a particular favorite of mine offering variety in the grain which can add interest to a particular piece.

The American Black (Lovoa trichilioides) walnut tree from West Africa together with the Tetraclinis artisulata from North Africa are both suitable for woodturning while the latter, darker walnut tree is also used for veneers.

Amateur woodturner Chris Ashton made this walnut French ring box recently in France. In the second picture (left) with the top twisted slightly, you can see the join.

This is certainly as nice a jewellery box as I have seen and would make a lovely present for a friend or loved one.

If you were running short of woodturning ideas this might just be your next project.
