Ebony
(Diospyros Crassiflora) This tree grows in Africa in the equatorial zone, particularly in Nigeria. A dense black wood the heartwood is often streaked grey in colour. Ebony wood is easier to turn than to saw so buying wood turning blanks is the best option. Often used for musical instruments. The wood is hazardous to health with long term exposure known to cause asthma, so proper respiritory equipment is a must.

Elm Wood
(Ulmus Spp) English, Dutch and Wych are among ten species of Elm known to grow in Europe. The brown heartwood is easily distinguished from lighter sapwood with each species displaying its own grain and colour differences. In addition to woodturning, Elm wood is often used for cabinet making and furniture.

Eucalyptus
(Eucalyptus Regnans) There are more than 700 species of Eucalyptus mostly native to Australia. The wood is easy to turn but often warps which is perfect for woodturning projects with a natural appearance.
