Ropala Lacewood
(Roupala Brasiliensis) A deep orange-brown heartwood with a beautiful pattern, it is not difficult to see why this wood is used for veneers, cabinet making and woodturning.
Rosewood Mexico
(Cordia Gerascanthus) A yellow brown heartwood shows tinges of green before darkening to a medium brown with darler lines. An easy wood to turn, it is also used for cabinet making.
Rosewood Santos
(Machaerium Scleroxylon) The heartwood from this Bolivian tree has a variety of red-brown shades but makes stunning bowls if you are inventive. It is difficult to saw so buy your bowl blanks ready cut if possible. It is easier to turn but beware that sanding dust can cause skin irritation so be sure to cover up and use respiritory equipment to safe-guard your health.
